The artwork: “Back stage”

Location: Pasaje de Antonio Cuadrillero, Nou Barris, Barcelona.

The mural Back stage is a tribute to the Circ Social of Nou Barris, a landmark cultural and community project where circus arts serve as a tool for inclusion, participation and social cohesion. The work focuses on what is often unseen: collective work, preparation, effort and complicity that takes place behind the scenes.

Through a detailed and realistic composition, Wedo Goás depicts the circus universe as a space of encounter and transformation, where creativity is built collaboratively. The mural celebrates the role of the circus as a cultural engine in the neighbourhood and as an example of how art can generate connections, opportunities and social change in Nou Barris.

The intervention integrates into the urban environment as a visual acknowledgment of the Circ Social’s work, connecting artistic practice with the everyday life of the district and reinforcing the value of culture as a tool for community building.

NOU Sentit Urbà: urban art in the Nou Barris district

This intervention is part of the 18 artistic actions of the NOU Sentit Urbà project, promoted by Barcelona City Council and produced by Rebobinart, with the collaboration of the Nou Barris District and local neighborhood communities.
The project recovers collective memories and local identities through murals, installations, and participatory processes, addressing themes such as older age, sustainability, migration, neighborhood women, vernacular architecture, or sport as a force for cohesion. Each intervention adds a piece to Nou Barris’ shared story, reinforcing the value of memory and the role of urban art as a tool for social transformation.
