Any Ramon Llull — a live street-art tribute to the writer in Madrid

On 2, 3 and 4 February we took part in the Any Ramon Llull celebrations in Madrid. The initiative came out of a collaboration with the Centre Cultural Blanquerna, the Generalitat’s delegation space in Madrid. This event grew out of this first collaboration between the two organisations, and on our side it was the first action we carried out in Madrid, with many more expected in the future.
Rebobinart brought three urban artists, Chamo San, Laura Castillo and Edjinn, to interpret the writer’s work live over three days. The aim of the project was to reinterpret the humanist’s work from a fresh angle that would draw people in with its youthful, lively character, given how challenging it is to visually represent literary output as multifaceted as Ramon Llull’s (1232-1315).
The Catalan writer touched on virtually every discipline, notably philosophy, theology and science. As a philosopher, mystic, novelist and apologist, he promoted and championed the use of the Catalan language through his writings as far back as the 13th and 14th centuries.
