In commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, Rebobinart is organizing a feminist JAM at the Tres Xemeneies on November 24. This event, conceived as an act of advocacy, will bring together women artists who, through their artistic interventions, will transform the public space into a symbol of resistance and denunciation, raising a collective voice against gender-based violence that continues to claim lives.
Prior to the event, a joint session will be held with the 10 selected artists to discuss and share insights on the theme, ensuring a shared vision and effective coordination of the action. This intervention is intended as an exercise in sorority and solidarity, reflecting the power of collective work among women, an essential force in social struggles throughout history. Every stroke and every color will contribute to a unified voice demanding justice and safety for all.
On November 24th, the Tres Chimeneas space became a platform for advocacy with the celebration of the Feminist JAM, an initiative driven by Rebobinart as part of the Womart project. This event brought together ten women artists with the aim of creating a collective public space intervention to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, held on November 25th. The participating artists were: Aitana Giráldez , Valentina Will, Atena, Lacastillo, Ona Salvador, Pixa, Magia Trece, Gemma Fontanals, Plain Jein, Ultra LXP. This date, established by the United Nations, honors the Mirabal sisters, who were assassinated under the Trujillo regime, and symbolizes the global fight to eradicate all forms of gender-based violence.
The production of the Feminist JAM began weeks earlier with an online session where the selected artists shared perspectives and reflections on the theme. This collaborative meeting served to define the conceptual framework for the intervention, focusing on themes such as sisterhood, invisible violence, and collective empowerment. Through a participatory process, a shared vision was consolidated and brought to life on the day of the event.
During the event, the public space was filled with colors and powerful messages that resonated with the urban context of the Poble-sec neighborhood, an area historically linked to diversity and community participation. The artists transformed Tres Chimeneas into a visual symbol of struggle and hope, where every stroke called for a future free of violence. This action not only amplified the voices of the participants but also made a significant impact on the local community, encouraging reflection and awareness about the importance of this fight.
The project is part of Womart, a Rebobinart initiative that seeks to balance the representation of women in urban art and use it as a tool to promote gender equality and social transformation. Thanks to the commitment and talent of the participating artists, as well as the collaboration of the local community, the Feminist JAM is established as a key action to continue building spaces for social change. This intervention reaffirms the power of collective art to transform consciousness and spaces, delivering a powerful message: STOP GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE!
