Mobile World Congress 2015 — a live street art activation with Motorola

Barcelona
02.03.2015
Monday, 2 March 2015: you get up, go through your usual morning routine and get ready to head out — and the moment you step onto the street, you realise it’s not just any Monday. The city looks different, and suddenly you remember: it’s tech week in the Ciutat Comtal, it’s Mobile World Congress 2015 weekend.
Motorola was the company that requested our collaboration. The brand wanted to run an advertising campaign where its brand values embraced urban art. The action took place at Plaça Catalunya, Les Rambles, and Barceloneta. Our artists, in this case all from the illustration world, gave us their art, leaving it on display in public space.
As we mentioned, we helped make the city look different, since our action took place on the city’s advertising columns (“pirulis”), which became the communication channel between the brand and the city.
The brand gets advertising with an urban, easy-going, appealing language — advertising that’s more grounded, accessible to the whole crowd filling the city that weekend, built through interaction with the artist: just another resident of Barcelona, who knows and proudly decorates its streets.
And we don’t want to say goodbye without mentioning the artists who took part in this event: Amaia Arrazola, Enric Font, Roc Black Block, Sergio Mora, Ivan Romero Gilabert, Reskate Studio and Sebastien Waknine.
