Catalonia Women Urban Artists: A Showcase of Talent and Culture in Busan

This April, the Government Delegation of the Generalitat in South Korea, in collaboration with Rebobinart, carried out an exciting and transformative initiative at the BAMA International Art Fair in Busan, South Korea. Titled “Catalonia Women Urban Artists,” the exhibition was held from April 10 to April 16 and highlighted the incredible talent of Catalan urban female artists.

An Event Full of Activities

The episode kicked off with a roundtable at the Ocean Gallery on April 10, where the impact and perspectives of urban art were discussed, with a special focus on female contributions in this field. Following this, the BAMA fair served as the stage for vibrant live murals and enriching discussions from April 11 to April 14 at the BEXCO in Haeundae-gu. Attendees had the chance to see the artists in action, creating live murals. These demonstrations not only showcased the artistic process in real-time but also allowed spectators to interact directly with the artists, asking questions and observing closely the technique and detail involved in each work.

The conclusion took place at the Hyundai Department Store in Dong-gu, where a final exhibition was set up from April 16 to May 1, displaying works created during the fair along with other significant works by our artists. This exhibition was designed not just as an art display but as an immersive experience that allowed visitors to delve into the world of Catalan female urban art.

Artists Who Left a Mark

This proposal featured the participation of three prominent Catalan urban artists: Lily Brick, Marina Capdevila, and Mina Hamada (who, although unable to attend in person, exhibited some of her works at the fair). Each brought her unique style and artistic perspective, enriching the showcase with their vision and talent.

Lily Brick (Mireia Serra): From Lleida, she has transformed her passion for graphic design into a recognized career in urban art. Her murals, known for their vibrant use of color and dynamic shapes, reflect her focus on themes of female empowerment and social justice.

Marina Capdevila: This artist has captured international attention with her unique approach to aging, depicted with humor and tenderness in large murals and artworks. Her works not only decorate cities but also provoke dialogues about aging and beauty.

Mina Hamada: Born in the USA and raised in Japan, Mina brings a distinctive style influenced by her diverse cultural heritage. Her works are characterized by abstract patterns and a playful use of the color palette, inviting reflection and visual delight.

Rebobinart: Commitment and Vision

This event reflects Rebobinart’s commitment to urban art and its capacity to transform spaces and communities. Through “Catalonia Women Urban Artists,” Rebobinart  not only promotes diversity and inclusion but also underscores the importance of female representation in urban art. Our goal is to continue providing platforms where women’s voices can be expressed and appreciated, fostering a cultural dialogue that crosses borders and generations.

A Bridge Between Catalonia and South Korea

This exhibition not only celebrated the diversity and talent of women in art but also promoted a enriching cultural exchange between Catalonia and South Korea, demonstrating the power of art as a tool for understanding and international collaboration.

Through events like these, Rebobinart continues to demonstrate how urban art can be a powerful mediator of social and cultural change. We hope that Catalan delegations and our followers will continue to support and promote these initiatives.

Thank you for being part of this artistic journey with us!
