Together with TRAM, Rebobinart launched the Art al TRAM project. It began with a lighting overhaul of the TRAM Cornellà Centre station, aimed at unifying the lighting and reducing energy consumption by replacing the existing lights with low-consumption LEDs.

Once the new lighting installation was complete, internationally renowned artist Mur0ne created his artistic intervention across 1,600 m² of the station’s walls. The piece is made up of vivid colours representing the multiculturalism and diversity of the tram’s users, through an interlocking pattern of face profiles that generate a sense of movement. Integrated on both sides of the Cornellà Centre tram station, the work has brought vitality to the station, creating an immersive artistic experience for both TRAM users and passers-by.

The project set out to use art to revitalise a semi-underground space and turn it into a more welcoming place. TRAM also aims to reinforce social and environmental values, bringing citizens closer to a city model based on sustainability, social innovation and inclusion through art and culture. Located at street level in one of the most central areas of Cornellà de Llobregat, the TRAM Cornellà Centre stop has become a regular thoroughfare. As a landmark stop in the Barcelona metropolitan area, TRAM chose it to kick off the project.

This piece, managed by the cultural organisation Rebobinart, was the first action under Art al TRAM, a project of quality artistic interventions at various stops that TRAM plans to carry out in the coming years.

Once the two weeks of work involved in creating this large-scale piece were complete, the station’s official opening took place. Among those in attendance were the mayor of Cornellà, Antoni Balmón; the Catalan Minister for Territory and Sustainability, Damià Calvet; and the president of TRAM, Felip Puig.
