In November 2017, as part of the 22nd Science Week, the artist Penao painted live four portraits of women scientists who have shaped history: Marie Curie, Hedy Lamarr, Peggy Whitson and Rajaâ Cherkaoui El Moursli. The photo shows the four black-and-white panels in the street, with the spray cans on the ground.

The action, with the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation, used the mural to popularise science and give visibility to women researchers, one of the Week’s aims. See more work by Penao and other projects; more about the foundation at the FCRi.
