Basurama · Cor
The Basurama collective turned 250 decommissioned road-sign triangles into a light installation at the Àgora municipal sports centre: a central heart that beat every night.
Murals in Nou Barris
Nou Barris is a working-class district in the north of Barcelona, built largely by its own residents and known for decades of grassroots activism. Rebobinart has turned it into one of the densest clusters of urban art projects anywhere in Spain. From the district-wide “NOU Sentit Urbà” programme to individual commissions with artists such as Basurama, Mariana Santos and Udatxo, we have delivered more than 18 murals and installations here, always through participatory processes rooted in local memory.
Nou Barris is not a backdrop, it is a protagonist. Every intervention engages with the district’s memory, its diversity and its long history of residents’ movements.
Tell us about the area, your objectives and the local context. We will come back to you within 48 hours with a tailored proposal.
We manage the project from start to finish. All you have to do is sign off the key decisions.
Consultation sessions with neighbourhood and district organisations to identify the themes and sensitivities that matter locally.
An independent committee decides which artists from our network of more than 500 professionals can best respond to those themes.
Workshops and sessions with residents, local groups and, where relevant, schools, so the finished work reflects how the community sees itself.
We handle materials, council permits and artist coordination, with minimal disruption to everyday life in the neighbourhood.
Professional photography and film, so the process itself is recorded and left behind as part of the district’s cultural legacy.
Nou Barris is the district where Barcelona City Council concentrated its “NOU Sentit Urbà” programme: 18 artistic interventions, all of them produced by Rebobinart.
Yes. The model developed in Nou Barris is fully replicable in other districts, towns and cities. We have already done so in Sant Andreu de la Barca with the Kromatic Festival and in Vilanova i la Geltrú with La Cucanya.
It depends on the project. NOU Sentit Urbà was funded through Next Generation EU recovery funds. Other projects combine public, private or mixed funding.
Yes. NOU Sentit Urbà included consultation sessions with district organisations and participatory workshops with children, young people and local groups.
