On April 7 of 2018, the artist Minuskula made a large-format mural in the Casal de Cultura of the city of Sant Cugat del Vallès. In this piece, the artist tells us about the barriers, difficulties and efforts that women must overcome throughout their lives, exemplifying it as an obstacle race. This intervention is part of the Womart project, an initiative of Rebobinart that aims to reclaim the need to recognize and make more visible the female talent in the visual arts and promote gender equality in all artistic visual disciplines. The realization of this mural has been promoted by the Xarxa Transversal with the support of the Department of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
In the video, Minúskula describes the inequality she sees from inside: more than half of all exhibitions are by male illustrators, and «seeing a woman up on a crane still isn't normal». In her collective she has noticed that clients give more credibility to her male colleague. Her mural is about women joining forces.

There is still quite a lot to be done. Programming does include women —in fact I know a lot of women who are very good illustrators—, but you do see a certain inequality between men's and women's work and how it is programmed: more than half the exhibitions are devoted to male illustrators.
Seeing a woman up on a crane still isn't a normal thing these days, so you do get comments like «what are you doing up there» or «be careful, don't fall»: the kind of nonsense no one says to a man, obviously.
My experience is a bit particular, because I am part of a collective made up of me and a man. We mainly do mural work, and I have indeed noticed that when it comes to carrying out a production more credibility is always given to him, or there is more contact between the client and my colleague than with me. And that is still quite a revealing fact about how things work today: that people trust the male side of a team more than the female one.
What I wanted to do was reflect on the obstacles, both at work and in everyday life, that we women can run into, and how in a society as competitive as the one we live in I have the feeling that we would be much better off if we tried to come together, to form something of a team to overcome all these difficulties we have to face. It would be about comradeship and solidarity among women.
