La Marina, Barcelona / 2026

Carola Bagnato turns the shutters of 17 shops in La Marina, in the Zona Franca, into a blue garden as part of the Persianes que fan barri project.

Carola Bagnato is the artist for the shutters of the Associació de Comerciants La Marina, in the Zona Franca, in the district of Sants-Montjuïc, within the Persianes que fan barri project: a street art intervention on 185 shops across Barcelona, organised by the Barcelona Creativity & Design Foundation with creative direction by Rebobinart.

Carola Bagnato is an Argentinian illustrator and muralist based in Barcelona. Her work moves between the real and the fantastic, with a gaze tied to memory, childhood, tenderness and emotional bonds. She has painted murals in several countries and often works from a visual universe of her own, sensitive and narrative.

Carola Bagnato’s style: a blue garden for every shop

The La Marina series works with flat-shape illustration, clean outlines and highly synthesised compositions, with a palette that revolves around blues — navy, turquoise, sky and cobalt — combined with white, black, mint green, red, pink and small yellow accents. Each shutter places an object from the shop at its centre and surrounds it with schematic leaves, waves and curved shapes that connect it to the background, as if each business were embraced by a blue garden.
