DOA OA – Reforesting and Wild Flora
Nou Barris, Barcelona / December 2025
A mural by DOA OA that transforms a major urban axis of Nou Barris into a pictorial landscape connected to nature, movement and the everyday life of the neighbourhood.
The artist: DOA OA
DOA OA is a visual artist who works primarily in the field of contemporary muralism, with a highly recognisable abstract and organic visual language. Her practice is rooted in the body, gesture and movement as central axes, translating them into pictorial compositions that engage directly with urban space.
Her work is characterised by expressive, fluid and intuitive painting, in which natural forms and visual rhythms become tools for generating open-ended sensory experiences. In public space, DOA OA understands the mural as a living presence that accompanies the daily life of a place, establishing a direct relationship with the people who pass through and inhabit it.
The artwork: “Reforesting and Wild Flora”
Location: Passeig de Fabra i Puig, 370, Nou Barris, Barcelona.
The mural Reforesting and Wild Flora stretches along a wall measuring 120 metres in length and 5.5 metres in height, located on one of the busiest thoroughfares in Nou Barris.
Using an abstract visual language inspired by vegetal forms and natural rhythms, DOA OA creates a continuous composition that evokes spontaneous nature and wild flora as metaphors for resistance, growth and adaptation within the urban environment. Rather than depicting a specific landscape, the mural unfolds as a pictorial atmosphere that accompanies the constant movement of the street, transforming a functional wall into a visual experience integrated into the neighbourhood’s everyday life.
The intervention engages with traffic, pedestrian flow and the speed of the space, offering different readings depending on the observer’s pace—walking, stopping or passing by. In this way, the work becomes an active part of the urban journey and strengthens the relationship between art, public space and the natural environment.
NOU Sentit Urbà: urban art in the Nou Barris distric
This intervention is part of the 18 artistic actions of the NOU Sentit Urbà project, promoted by Barcelona City Council and produced by Rebobinart, with the collaboration of the Nou Barris District and local neighborhood communities.
The project recovers collective memories and local identities through murals, installations, and participatory processes, addressing themes such as older age, sustainability, migration, neighborhood women, vernacular architecture, or sport as a force for cohesion. Each intervention adds a piece to Nou Barris’ shared story, reinforcing the value of memory and the role of urban art as a tool for social transformation.
