This year we once again took part in Associa’t a la Festa, a unique space where organisations and associations from the city of Barcelona work together to organise workshops and activities for everyone, strengthening the city’s associative fabric. This fourth edition, held as part of the La Mercè festivities, was built around four main themes: People’s Rights, Climate, Interculturality and Gender. These four strands, packed with activities, came together on Rebobinart’s street art wall in the middle of the square.

We worked on a large-format wall (12 metres by 2.40 metres) with the aim of strengthening the citizens’ narrative around these four themes and fostering Associa’t’s community communication, to keep encouraging frameworks for social dialogue in a festive, playful way that is open to the whole city. Two parallel activities took place on the wall over the course of the day. On one side, the teacher and illustrator Enric Font developed a participatory visual storytelling in which he depicted several of the activities that took place in the square during the day. This mural was created together with everyone who wanted to join in, whether by leaving a message about their experience at Associa’t or by adding colour to the characters depicted.

On the other side of the wall, a closed activity took place. The artist Perrine Honoré painted a mural in her fresh, colourful style, in which she set out to depict sexual diversity, feminisms, gender and interculturality.

We look back on our time at Associa’t very positively: the participation of children and adults alike was a great success, and in this way we brought street art closer to a part of the population.
