Rebutja la violència masclista

Participative mural against male violence towards women within the activities of the 25th of November. The mural was performed by artists Reskateartscrafts and Amaia Arrazola together with the young people of the centre JoveCardí.
In the video, the mural against gender violence in Les Corts. It explains the image of the pyramid of everyday sexism —murder at the top, apparently harmless jokes at the bottom— and why a comment about someone's smile already turns her into a product. «The worst violence is the kind you cannot see.»

The men who pay compliments, I have them classified. There is the classic one, the one who shouts «gorgeous» at you, which is neither needed nor necessary.
There is something called everyday sexism, and we could picture a pyramid with murder right at the top and, at the bottom, these jokes and these apparently harmless comments. It is something we are brought up with, boys and girls alike, and we don't see that in saying that —«what beautiful eyes you have» or «what a lovely smile»— you are turning that woman into a product and not treating her as a person.
The way this violence is exercised has possibly changed: it used to be almost always physical violence, and today it is more buried, more subtle. And sometimes, of course, if it is not seen, if it is not made visible, it does not exist. And I would tell young women, those girls who are our future, to be very careful, because the worst violence is the kind you cannot see.
What we are trying to do with the mural is precisely to leave this mark in the Les Corts district, so that everyone who lives in Les Corts, every time they walk past here, remembers that Barcelona has to be an anti-sexist city; and that what institutions should be doing is taking the live conflicts in the city, naming them, giving them a voice, and getting people in the street to push for measures, so that we put an end to these problems.
