ÚSBARCELONA – Les Glòries
Trapped in the frantic rhythm of ephemeral consumption and expiry dates, we live in throwaway times. The Ús philosophy invites us to pause and rediscover the potential of the things we thought had lost their purpose. A new use can always be found — you just have to look for it.
This event was born with the desire to reclaim the use value of city spaces that lose their social function due to urban changes. Art is a natural activator of public space, capable of giving life and dignity back to empty or neglected areas of the city. The iconic Plaça de les Glòries Catalanes provided the perfect setting for this intervention in 2014.
The event showcased new proposals, new formats, and new artistic tendencies accessible to all citizens. It aimed to be an essential gathering for urban art enthusiasts in Barcelona, spreading awareness of this artistic movement and restoring the avant-garde status it deserves. A live exhibition brought together leading local and international artists, who transformed an underused space into a vibrant cultural hub.
Beyond the murals, the programme included workshops for young people, interactive experiences, an exhibition and sale of original artworks, and dedicated spaces for galleries and artistic collectives — making it a holistic celebration of urban creativity. Rebobinart was a key contributor to the Ús Barcelona initiative, strengthening its mission of connecting art, urban space, and community participation.

Caught up in the frantic pace of fleeting consumption and expiry dates, we live in throwaway times. The Ús philosophy lets us stop and look at the potential of things we thought were no longer of any use to us. A new use can always be found; you just have to look for it.
This event was born to recover the use value of city spaces that lose their social function because of urban redevelopment. Art is a natural driver of public space, able to bring life and dignity back to these empty places.
New proposals, new formats and new artistic trends within everyone’s reach. The event aims to become a must for street art lovers in our city, with the main goal of spreading this art form and giving it back the avant-garde place it deserves. To that end, leading local and international artists will paint live in a disused space that will come back to life.
The event takes a broad approach: besides street art murals, structural and visual formats and interactive experiences, there will be workshops for young people, talks, an exhibition and sale of artworks, and spaces for galleries and art collectives.
