Cor d'Horta, Barcelona / 2026
Emily Eldridge, illustrator and muralist, fills the shutters of 17 shops in the Cor d’Horta with colour and imagination as part of the Persianes que fan barri project.
Emily Eldridge is the artist for the Unió de Botiguers Cor d’Horta, in the district of Horta-Guinardó, within the Persianes que fan barri project: a street art intervention on 185 shops across Barcelona, organised by the Barcelona Creativity & Design Foundation with creative direction by Rebobinart.
Emily Eldridge is an American illustrator, muralist and graphic designer based in Barcelona. Her work combines murals, street art, editorial illustration and environmental graphics, with a colourful, direct and energetic visual style. She often draws on everyday life, pop culture, fashion and humour.
Emily Eldridge’s style: when imagination takes to the street
The Horta series is an explosion of colour and imaginative shapes. When imagination takes to the street, the neighbourhood changes: creativity becomes part of the everyday landscape and, among colours and shapes, residents discover new ways of dreaming.
Formally, Emily Eldridge works with a graphic language of flat shapes and clean outlines, close to editorial illustration: electric blues, yellows, pinks, reds, greens and violets on black or turquoise backgrounds that heighten the contrast. The figures are simplified silhouettes without realistic shading (food, animals, clothes, cameras, hands) turned into easily recognisable icons.
