A New Dimension of Urban Art: Waterwall at Central Finestrelles

On Tuesday, February 25th, we completed a new intervention as part of the Waterwall project, an initiative driven by Rebobinart and Aigües de Barcelona to highlight water as an essential resource and integrate urban art into technical infrastructures. This project not only beautifies spaces but also encourages reflection on the importance of preserving this vital resource and its impact on society.

An Artistic Transformation at Central Finestrelles

This time, the southern facade of Central Finestrelles’s C reservoir, located in front of the Pediatric Cancer Center Barcelona at Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, has become the canvas for an artistic transformation bringing calm and well-being to patients and their families.

Artist Alba Fabre, renowned for her figurative style influenced by impressionism, has created a 320m² mural that immerses us in a serene natural landscape, filled with tranquil waters and lush vegetation in shades of blue and green. The piece is not just an aesthetic exercise but also a statement on water as an essential element for life and nature. This pictorial space becomes a visual refuge, fostering a deeper connection with the environment and respect for our natural surroundings.

Waterwall: Art and Awareness for a Vital Resource

The Waterwall project was conceived with the goal of transforming infrastructures related to water management into elements of artistic and community value. This initiative bridges industrial architecture with the creativity of urban artists, while promoting the importance of sustainable water management. The murals created within the project not only enhance urban landscapes but also generate awareness about the significance of this fundamental resource.

This intervention at Central Finestrelles joins previous editions of the project, which have brought urban art to various points in the Barcelona metropolitan area:
